Gungho grab the points as Nettl fall

Division One

IT WAS all Gungho as Marketing earning the points after beating Nettl.
THE opening quarter saw the two teams match each other goal for goal, with fast-paced play and timely interceptions from Gungho’s Tia Chaloner (WA) and Nettl’s GK Sarah Lewis keeping the score tight.
The second period saw Gungho really spring to life, with new WA Millie Hambleton-White showing strong attacking play. Nettl worked consistently to get the ball up court to their shooters but struggled to get the ball safely into their circle, allowing Gungho to build their lead significantly.

However, Nettl fought back in the third quarter, bringing their deficit down to two goals going into the final period.

Superb defence from Gungho limited Nettl to only one goal in this last quarter, whilst excellent attacking play saw Gungho add 12 goals to their total.

At the final whistle Gungho had built up a strong lead to take a convincing win.

Premier Division

NEW Body utilised their strong defence from the outset, turning the ball over in Waikiki’s circle to put the first points on the board.
Excellent shooting from Jodie Howell saw New Body cement their lead.
Waikiki fought back in the second period, bringing the score to within two goals. GD, Lauren Stones, worked hard to shut down New Body’s shooters, allowing Waikiki to keep the score close.

New Body made some tactical changes to their defensive line-up, supported by strong attacking play from Ellen Blackwood (C), giving New Body the advantage and allowing them to pull ahead.
Waikiki brought in substitute Kelly Houghton at WA, who created fantastic space, helping her team pull back to score to within three goals.

Cristal Butcher, GS for Waikiki, worked hard in the circle to find space and produce some stunningly accurate shots.

The final quarter saw both teams play hard to win. Waikiki threw everything they had into the game but New Body fought back and managed to pull ahead towards the end to seal the victory.

Division Two

COASTAL CHEESE 56

ALLWAYS REMOVALS 29

BOTH teams started strongly, with Coastal Cheese managing to use strong feeds into the circle to pull ahead.

Allways’ defensive duo, Gilly Woodsford (GD) and Jackie Savage (GK) sprang into action but were unable to limit Coastal’s scoring opportunities.

Great interceptions from Coastal’s GK, Claire Churchill and GD Pfunzo Makhomu, allowed them to continue racking up points, while Allways struggled with communication despite some accurate and impressive passing.

Removals continued to work hard on court but were unable to match Coastal Cheese’s stride, despite some excellent defensive manoeuvres and strong accurate passing. In the end, it was a resounding win for Cheese.

Division Two

CAFÉ OASIS 62

MERAKI 9

CAFÉ Oasis made a strong start, using accurate passing and key interceptions to give them a confident lead.

Meraki came into the second period with great fighting spirit and managed some timely interceptions leading to end to end play, but struggled to convert these opportunities.

Café Oasis continued to play confidently and began to build a solid lead.

Laura Woolley, Meraki C, created good space, helping her team move the ball around court and Meraki’s shooting accuracy improved greatly thanks to Ellen MacDonald taking over the GA position.

Café Oasis continued to dominate, with accurate shooting from Candice Barton (GS) who was supported by a skilled attacking team, with some phenomenal passing into the circle from C Jane Snarey.

Meraki worked hard throughout and showed great spirit but were ultimately no match for Café Oasis, who walked away with a solid Victory.
