GEORGE Bar & Grill took their fifth victory in six games in a tightly-contested encounter.

Both teams started well in a closely-fought first quarter. George displayed excellent attacking skill, moving the ball well down the court where shooters were able to take advantage of scoring opportunities to carve out a small lead.

Bay came back fighting in the middle quarters, with superb teamwork in the mid-court to keep the ball in their possession.

George’s defenders stayed strong, however, with GD Juliette Frampton making some brilliant interceptions to limit Bay’s scoring opportunities and allow her team to further their lead.

The fast-paced final quarter saw Bay’s C, Sandra Firth, giving her all on court to help her team. In the end, though, George’s great efforts allowed them to continue to further their lead and claim the victory.

DIVISION ONE

GW ELECTRICAL 33

NETTL 20

NETTL were unable to prevent a fifth loss in five games as GW Electrical ran out 33-20 winners.

This thrilling game saw the ball move constantly up and down the court as both teams made successful interceptions and effective use of rebounds. GW’s GS, Hayley Rooks, used her space well and found the net, giving her team a two-point lead going into the middle quarters.

A tough contest in Nettl’s shooting circle saw GW defenders ramping up the defence, but Nettl kept their cool and moved the ball well around the circle.

In the mid-court, Nettl C, Jess Rice, put up an admirable defence to gain possession of the ball for her team, allowing them to lower the score difference slightly, however GW maintained a strong lead going into the final quarter.

Nettl’s determination shone through in the final quarter, as their players worked well to create and take advantage of scoring opportunities. Despite this, GW’s hard work in the previous quarters allowed them to walk away victorious.

DIVISION TWO

OJOS B 11

CAFE OASIS 36

CAFE Oasis continued a miserable start to the season for OJOs B, inflicting their sixth straight defeat with a 36-11 success.

Oasis gained an early lead, utilising precise passing to move the ball effortlessly down the court, where GA Eleanor Lake displayed excellent use of rebounds to increase the score difference.

OJOs B responded by upping their game to gain more scoring opportunities, ending the quarter with only four goals difference.

Both teams fought well to maintain possession of the ball and Candice Dennis, WD for OJOs B, worked well to put defensive pressure on Oasis and prevent scoring opportunities.

Oasis continued to dominate, however, further increasing their lead going into the final quarter.

Despite having played three tough quarters, both teams continued to show energy and determination. However, thanks to amazing teamwork and superb shooting, Oasis were able to secure their victory.

PREMIER DIVISION

NEW BODY FITNESS 33

BELLE CONSTRUCTION 56

BELLE Construction continued their 100 per cent start to the season with a thumping 56-33 triumph over New Body Fitness.

Both teams took to the court with high energy, as shooters capitalised on every scoring opportunity and defenders went after every ball. The score-line remained close, but New Body were able to put themselves one goal ahead by the end of the quarter.

The challenging play continued as both teams fought for possession, however, strong attacking skills from both sides reduced chances for interceptions.

New Body’s GA, Jessamy Baker, worked well to move the ball into the circle and convert to points.
Belle continued to fight for every ball, managing to take the lead by one goal going into the third quarter and continuing to increase this with expert shooting from GS Jodie Howell and GA Laura Buckle.
With Jessamy Baker (GA) going off court due to injury, New Body began to feel the pressure in the final quarter. Despite this, they kept up their determination, with C Nicole Birley tirelessly chasing every ball. Belle upped their game, dominating the court and converting a string of goals to claim a well-earned victory.
