It was the perfect Saturday for the Mintridge team on 14th July as they joined Commonwealth Gold Medallist and Mintridge Ambassador, Eboni Beckford – Chambers for a trip to the seaside in the glorious sunshine. The Team Bath Captain delivered a Bronze Programme to Weymouth Junior Netball Club in Dorset.

Upon arrival, Eboni was welcomed by the wonderful Weymouth coaches to kick start the first session of the morning with the High Five girls. Eboni approached the session as she does with her Bath and England team mates ensuring plenty of touches on the ball before progressing the session onto some great defensive work.

The session flew by and before long, the older girls were arriving with everyone making their way to the sports hall for the highly anticipated presentation. Eboni spoke of her journey to the Gold (there were a few screams of excitement when the last 10 seconds of THAT final were shown) and the importance of her double life as a lawyer as well. The girls, although shy at first had prepared some brilliant questions including “What is the most important part of your training?” The Weymouth coaches were pleased to hear Eboni’s response of strength and conditioning!

After everyone had their chance to see the cherished Gold medal and enjoy photos and autographs with the England superstar, the younger girls reluctantly said their goodbyes as Eboni made her way back to the outdoor courts. This time, the seniors were in tow and they were ready for business.

The senior girls played with such intensity which greatly impressed Eboni, whether it was in the individual ball skills or match scenarios to implement her attacking and defending tips. She was wowed by some of the speed as well which granted one player a Mintridge medal to boot!
