Poachers caught out as Weatherspoons triumph

JD WETHERSPOONS inflicted a heavy 50-point defeat on Poachers.

Both teams came out fighting in this fiercely-contested match top-flight contest.

Poachers’ C Nicole Birley made excellent use of space to move the ball through the mid-court, however Wetherspoons were able to push ahead and carve out a small lead.

Wetherspoons dominated play in the second quarter, scoring a string of goals in quick succession, with Poachers struggling to match their pace.

The third quarter saw some excellent shooting from Wetherspoons’ shooting duo Sam Rees and Lyndsey Gardner.

Poachers’ defence upped their game with some superb interceptions – however, this was not enough to stem the flow of Wetherspoons’ dynamic play.

Wetherspoons’ defence worked well to limit Poachers’ scoring opportunities. Despite Poachers’ continuous determination, Wetherspoons were able to further their lead, earning them a convincing victory.

Division One

GW ELECTRICAL 31

STIKA were overcome by GW Electrical in a tight Division One battle.

GW were quick to take advantage of early scoring opportunities, however, Stika’s shooters worked well to make the most of every ball into the circle, allowing them to end the quarter only one goal behind GW.

GW was able to pull ahead in the middle quarters, with amazing interceptions from GD Caroline Goode.

Stika worked hard to move the ball down the court, where GS Julie Bell was waiting to convert to points – however, GW’s excellent defensive pressure meant they were able to further their lead.

The final quarter saw some brilliant game-play in the shooting circles – GW showed great enthusiasm, continuing their strong play, despite amazing interceptions from Stika’s defence, who were determined to limit GW’s scoring opportunities.

In the end, however, GW were able to find the net and maintain their lead, allowing them to claim the win.

Premier Division

BELLE CONSTRUCTION 42

WATERSIDE 26

BELLE maintained their winning run with a 42-26 victory over Waterside as they bid to win the title.

The first quarter of the match was fast-paced, with both teams giving it their all.

Consistently accurate shooting by Belle’s GA Kat Wilberforce, allowed her team to go into the second quarter a goal ahead.

Waterside worked well in the circle, despite firm defensive pressure from Belle. Waterside GA Ellie Hinds, worked hard to secure goals for her team.

Belle showed strong teamwork, with excellent communication allowing them to move the ball well down the court to their shooters, and increase their lead.

Belle’s attack stayed strong throughout the final quarter, working hard to combat unwavering Waterside defence, allowing them to maintain their lead.
