Division One

CRESTA got the better of Wyke Smugglers by the narrowest of margins in Division One of the South & West Dorset League.

The closely-contested match saw an even start from both teams, with equally brilliant play from both sides keeping a one-goal difference throughout the first quarter.

Cresta worked hard to advance on their one-goal lead, with excellent interceptions from defensive duo Lucy Astrid, GD and Olivia May, GK.

Wyke Smugglers’ determination never faltered, however, as they showed impressive skill to keep possession of the ball down the court.
Accurate shooting from GS Sue Cox and GA Tracy Moore, allowed Smugglers to prevent Cresta from increasing their lead.

Wyke Smugglers came out with fierce enthusiasm in the final quarter, increasing their possession of the ball to even out the score difference.

Cresta responded to this and added pressure by upping their game with stronger, more accurate passing.

The Smugglers then found their rhythm which brought them back to only one goal behind at the end of the game, but just fell short of getting anything out of the contest.

Division One

BOTH teams showed strong play in the first quarter. Excellent shooting from GW Electrical’s GS Henni Green allowed her team to carve out a small lead.

GW came into the middle quarters with renewed confidence, working well to increase their lead despite OTC’s determined play, with amazing interceptions by GK Lyndsey Pollard.

The final quarter saw great determination from both teams, with excellent play around GW’s shooting circle, putting pressure on shooters to score.

In the end, GW showed superb skill, pushing ahead despite OTC’s brilliant defence, to claim the victory.

Division Two

NJ NETBALL 18

BASEPOINT 35

BASEPOINT were quick to score, thanks to fantastic shooting by GA Holly Fowler.

NJ Netball worked well to gain possession of the ball and gain the lead however, Basepoint fought back with superb shooting from GS Sam Warren to end the quarter with an even scoreline.

A broken post made for a dramatic second quarter, however, lost time was minimised by quick action to reassemble and keep the game flowing.
Basepoint recovered quickly, scoring a number of goals in quick succession to carve out a small lead.
NJ Netball worked tirelessly to stem Basepoint’s scoring flow, managing to even out the scores once again. But Basepoint refuse to give in, however, increasing the pace and continuing to score, bringing them eight points ahead by the end of the third quarter.
Basepoint continued to have good energy going into the final quarter, expertly scoring goal after goal.
NJ Netball’s WD Laura Wooley made an impressive interception to gain possession for her team, however, Basepoint’s passionate play allowed them to maintain their lead and ease to the win.

Division Two

NMP PROPERTY 28

POTTING SHED 26

NMP came out fighting, dominating the court in the first quarter.

Some well-timed interceptions from Potting Shed WD Hannah Leaver made it difficult for NMP to move the ball up the court.

NMP made the most of scoring opportunities, however, accurate shooting from NMP’s GS Megan Breslin allowed her team to build a lead by the end of the quarter.

NMP’s attack worked hard to combat brilliant defence by Potting Shed. Both sides fought well to gain and keep possession, with goals being scored at both ends.
