Artifex upped their defence, with effective interceptions from Halle Patterson (GD). Coastal’s Lauren Oates (GA) made good use of rebounds to even the score; however, Artifex pushed through and managed to reclaim the lead with dynamic play. Coastal’s defenders continued to give their all in Artifex’s D, but the shooters kept finding space and securing goals with short, sharp passes.

Artifex dominated possession in the final quarter with some excellent turnovers. Exceptional shooting kept Coastal in the game but Artifex were determined, continuing to rack up points and earn a triumphant victory.

DIVISION ONE

EXE TRAINING 45

WYKE SMUGGLERS 38

WYKE made a good start with strong passing from Julie Gear (C); the ball moved quickly to Wyke’s shooters to put the first point on the board. Exe responded by scoring from their own centre pass. Some well-timed interceptions from Exe’s GD, Kelly Coombes, kept the ball moving to her shooters, giving them the opportunity to secure a one-goal lead going into the second quarter.

Exe came back with renewed determination, continuing to increase their lead with good tactical play and teamwork. Exe took the first goal of the third quarter but Wyke were quick to bring the score difference back down. Some tactical changes from Wyke saw Tracey Moore move to GS, racking up points to limit Exe’s lead.

The final quarter saw evenly-matched play as both teams scored from their centre passes. Excellent shooting from Exe’s Ellie Wellman (GS) allowed her team to maintain their lead and secure the victory.

PREMIER DIVISION

GUNGHO MARKETING 29

BELLE CONSTRUCTION 36

A FRANTIC first quarter saw the ball move back and forth in fast-paced play. Gungho took an early lead but Belle kept up the fight. Skilled shooters Jazz Franklin (GS) and Laura Bucke (GA) worked the ball around the D to maximise scoring opportunities, allowing Belle to grab a five-goal lead.

An early injury for Gungho resulted in a substitution but the team were undeterred. Belle made some good interceptions resulting in crucial turnovers. Gungho continued to apply pressure, challenging every ball. Tia Chaloner (WA) showed great tactical play to keep the ball moving to her shooters to limit Belle’s lead. A half-time change for Gungho put Gabby Bennett at GK, where she stood strong against Belle’s shooter to limit scoring opportunities.

The final quarter was filled with high-intensity play. Belle showed their experience, managing to pull away in the final minutes to significantly increase their lead and emerge triumphant.

DIVISION TWO

BAY FENCING 50

ARTIFEX B 26

BOTH teams made a good start with accurate shooting from both sides. Despite being a player down, Bay found a steady rhythm to pass the ball to their shooters, Emily Park (GS) and Jess Pym (GA), who were quick to convert.

Bay continued to work tirelessly to keep the ball out of Artifex’s hands, dominating the second quarter. Artifex upped their game with some team changes bringing fresh energy. Goals for this quarter were fairly even, with Bay only one ahead, but their previous efforts ensured they maintained a solid lead.

Artifex swapped positions once more, with dynamic shooting duo Ali Holmes (GS) and Candice Barton (GA) racking up points to keep within half of Bay’s score. In the end, however, Bay walked away with a well-earned victory after some exceptional team play.
